Borrowing & membership

SCONUL Access and Covid-19 - In line with Government guidelines, and following the closure of library buildings, SCONUL will be suspending the SCONUL Access scheme until further notice.

Staffordshire University is a member of SCONUL Access, a reciprocal scheme that covers most of the academic libraries in the UK and Ireland.

Membership is free and provides visitor access and borrowing rights to staff, postgraduates, distance learners and placement students – full-time undergraduates can apply for reference access.

To learn more about the scheme and to make an application visit the SCONUL Access website.

You should always check the website of the library that you want to visit for their opening hours and any terms and conditions that may apply.

Using Staffordshire University Libraries as a SCONUL Access member

Bands A, B and C can apply to join our library for access to our facilities and for borrowing rights.

You will need to bring with you:

  • the approval email from your home library
  • your staff or student ID
  • a passport photograph so that we can provide you with a library card

Band R can use our library facilities and resources for reference purposes only.

Access to our buildings is restricted to staffed opening times for all SCONUL Access users.
