Quick Start 2021 online events

The Academic Skills team is offering a series of one-hour online workshops during January and February.  All sessions run online using Microsoft Teams.

Workshops are grouped under four main themes with a number of different workshops under each theme. 

  • Planning your work
    includes time management, acting on feedback and planning final year projects/dissertations.
  • Finding information and referencing it
    includes finding good academic resources, basic referencing and using reference management tools.
  • Improving your writing
    includes tackling an assignment, academic writing, critical writing, reflective writing.
  • Using the technology
    includes Word for long documents, LinkedIn Learning and the using the Study Smarter with technology guide.


You will have the opportunity to ask quick questions and share experiences and tips with other students as well as receive guidance from the Academic Skills Tutor.  Follow up individual appointments will also be available.

Quick Start workshops 2021 - Sway presentation

An overview of the Quick Start workshops we are offering is available as a Microsoft Sway.

Sway is a web-based tool for creating media-rich presentations, which can be created and viewed from a variety of devices. Sway content has numerous ways to customise viewing and navigation even if you didn’t create the Sway yourself. 

If you are not familiar with using Sway the instructions below will help you use this effectively and change options to suit your needs.
