Welcome 2021/22

I want to borrow some books

This is the key information you need to know about borrowing from the University Libraries:

  • Most students can borrow up to 17 items at any one time.
  • Most resources have an initial loan period of 2 weeks and will be automatically renewed unless requested by another student or you have an overdue resource on your Library account.
  • Library recall charges will occur if you do not return a book that has been requested by another user.
  • All books will need to be returned after 6 months to be checked.  You will receive an email reminder when this point is reached for books you have on loan.
  • If one of your items is requested, you will need to return it by the date shown on your courtesy email. Dates for return can also be found on by logging into your Library Card account.
  • Distance learners can request for up to four books to be posted to them. They will be posted for free but return charges will apply.

How to take out and return books

When you have found what you are looking for you can use one of our self service machines.
Hand sanitizer and other cleaning products are available for you to use by the self-issue machines.
