Welcome 2021/22

Starting your research

We have lots of ways to help you get started with your studies and to support you throughout your time here.

Library Search

Please look at our website to find all the resources you need to study. Many are available electronically and so can be accessed at any time of the day or night.

You can use the Library Search  to look for many of our resources. With one search you can find many of our books, eBooks and eJournal articles. Use the filters on the left of the screen to refine your search if required - for example to narrow your search by type (E.g. book or eJournal article) or by particular dates.

For physical stock in our libraries, for example, books, journals and other media it will show you where to find items on the shelf and whether they are already on loan. If so, you can reserve the book so it is saved for you once it is returned.

You will usually be directed towards an online reading list by your tutor as the starting point for essential reading and any items on here are automatically linked to the Library catalogue record and/or eBook record.

eBooks

The Library has a large collection of online full text eBooks to support all subject areas. Many eBooks allow you to make notes (using an online marker pen), download to portable devices or save to your own virtual bookshelf. Our eBooks are an important additional resource to our printed stock and of course have the convenience of being available 24/7 wherever you are.

eJournals

You can search for particular eJournals by title as part of Library Search or alternatively eJournal articles by keyword/topic via our subject databases.
