There are a variety of areas which you can use across the campuses and within some of our libraries allowing you to study in a way that suits your needs and preferences.

The widest choice of study areas is within the Catalyst Building on Leek Road.  These are open 24/7.   You can also find details on Leek Road Campus Study Spaces.

Study spaces are also available in Library Creative which is also open 24/7 - you can also find details on College Road Study Spaces.

You can search for more detailed study space information by using Beacon. Use the maps feature or ask Beacon for a study space in your location to get started!

There are three types of study spaces across the university.

Group Study 

These are spaces where talking is allowed, but you should take care not to disturb others studying. 

Silent Study 

These are spaces where there is no talking to allow for study without distraction. Please turn your mobile phone to silent.

Family Study 

These spaces provide an area for parents to study whilst supervising their children.

There are computers across the university available for your use, and some have specialist software for your subject area.  

You can use the PC finder available on Beacon to check current availability of computers. You can find more information on this on the Digital Services page.

All computers are locked for security purposes, and to use them you will need to enter your University username and password.

If you prefer to use your own  laptop, you can bring that with you and connect to Eduroam a wireless network service available to all students who have a valid username and password, with the benefit is that if you visit another educational establishment that uses Eduroam, you will connect automatically without having to log into their wi-fi.  

We have suitable tables for using your own devices located throughout the study areas.

Laptop loans

We have several Lapsafe units that allow you to borrow a laptop to use for 24 hours. These are all full Windows 10 laptops, with the usual Microsoft Office applications like Word and Excel as well as a number of web browsers, and can be borrowed for up to 24 hours.

They are perfect to borrow at the start of your day and keep with you around our campus.  Take notes in lectures, browse the web for help during tutorials, do group work with your friends in the coffee shop - or even just check out the latest memes while taking a break.

• Staffordshire University London

You can collect your work from any printer on campus – these multifunction devices can also be used for photocopying and scanning electronic copies directly to your email.  You will need to use your ID card to access your printing account or log-in with your username and password.  There is further information, including setting up printing from your own device on the Digital Services Printing page 

To add print credit to your account, you can use MyPrint. More information is also available on Beacon
