Top Tips for organising Academic Skills Support

  1. Plan ahead.  Work back at least a week from assignment deadlines and book an appointment NOW.
  2. If there are no convenient times available, look at appointments for all Academic Librarians and Skills Tutors or book an email appointment to have your work reviewed.  Use the main link  from your Subject Page, but choose the email option.  This is more effective than sending an email as a slot is booked in the Tutors diary.  You will receive written feedback that working day.  This is also a good option to enable a focus for an online discussion at a later date.

REMEMBER

When using the using the online booking system, please make sure that you select your subject as Institute of Policing and NOT Policing and choose the police force you work for.  Please also cancel unwanted sessions and allow other students to book.

Your Academic Skills contact

Hi, I'm Angela Evans.

I can support you with finding good academic resources, referencing, academic writing, assignment planning and other academic study skills.

Email Angela if you have a question related to your subject area or a booked appointment.

For general enquiries about academic study skills or online resources, please email academicskills@staffs.ac.uk.

Other ways to get an appointment

If there is no suitable availability with your named contact go to the page for Academic Skills Appointments. From the drop-down list select whether you want a Microsoft Teams, In-person or Email appointment.  If you then select the No preference option it will give you the greatest range of dates and times to book some support.
