Exterior of Catalyst Building

From Tuesday 3 January 2023, The Catalyst building will be open to staff and students 24hrs a day, 7 days a week. The new opening hours will allow colleagues and students the opportunity to use our numerous study spaces on Level 2 and Level 3 at times that suits their schedules and, for our students their study and assignment deadlines.

Study spaces within The Catalyst are available on Level 2 and Level 3 of the building and include:

Level 2:

  • Webinar Pods for Group work
  • Bookable meeting rooms (Rooms can be booked via the panels on meeting room doors or via ResourceBooker.)
  • Breakaway areas surrounding The Learning Market and The Learning Lab
  • MACs/PCs
  • Areas surrounding the atrium with sockets so you can bring your own devices

Level 3:

  • Breakaway areas surrounding the atrium
  • Independent Study areas (located at the far end of level 3 beyond SCOLPP)

To ensure The Catalyst building provides a quiet study space for all, please be respectful of other building users and try to keep noise and disruption to a minimum.

Students looking for quieter study spaces are advised to book our level 2 private meeting rooms or, utilise our two independent study areas on Level 3. Finally, don’t forget to leave the building as you found it and leave areas clean and tidy and ready for fellow students to use.

The building will continue to be supported by our on-campus security teams to ensure your safety throughout your time studying - whether that’s at peak or off-peak hours. You can get in touch directly with the team via the contact numbers listed on the University’s website. Don’t forget you can also download our SafeZone app to summon first-aid, security or safety assistance via your mobile phone or PC.
