Hi everyone,
My name's Arran and I'm an Academic Skills Assistant, so I'm often a first point of call when contacting the Academic Skills team either via chat or email. I also help out with various projects behind the scenes, however one project that I'm heavily involved in that's decidedly not behind the scenes are the library displays.
To promote the diverse culture of our university, we dedicate a different book display to an element of Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI). These displays can be found in the Catalyst building in the foyer where books can be collected via our click and collect self service machines; in our Creative Library on College Road; and also in our library at Black Heath Lane in Stafford. We've looked at topics such as disability, LGBTQI+, Ramadan, Chinese New Year and many more besides. Here are a few examples from some of our earlier EDI displays along with some of the posters used:
:
Alongside our EDI displays we also have another display that features a random topic, such as taking a break, the weather, World Book Night, etc., this display is also based at Catalyst and is just there for fun and also to show how widespread the books in our libraries actually are:
Please do send me any suggestions for our future displays as I would love to hear your ideas and you never know we may have a display that you've inspired.
All the best
Arran
