New Library Space coming to Ashley this October

by Academic Skills team on 2021-08-02T00:00:00+01:00 | 0 Comments

As part of our ongoing cross-campus changes to improve the experience delivered through our University Library, we’re pleased to share that we are working to remodel our lecture theatres in the Ashley building to create a brand-new Library Space.

The works taking place in Ashley will see the space remodelled and lecture theatres converted to create an exciting open-plan Library space that aligns with reductions in print stock, future study preferences and other campus transformation projects.

In addition to being home to our Core Collection and a help point, the new Library Space in Ashley will offer easier access to physical stock and library self-service equipment.

With the new Core Collection being located in close proximity of The Catalyst, students will be able to take advantage of the wide variety of study spaces located in the building from independent study areas to informal break-out areas. For more information on the different spaces available in The Catalyst please see our building floor guide on IRIS.

For colleagues that are looking for alternative lecture theatre sized spaces on our campuses for the delivery of future lectures and events, similarly sized spaces to the Ashley lecture theatres can be booked in the following locations:

College Road Site:

Cadman:

G026, G027 and, G028

Flaxman:

Film Theatre

Leek Road site:

R001/2 Science Centre

The Catalyst

Whilst work takes place, both entrances to the Staffordshire Business School end of Ashley will remain accessible to both staff and students, however the lecture theatre side of Ashley will remain cordoned off with heras fencing.

We will continue to keep you updated as this exciting Library Transformation project develops and look forward to unveiling the new bookstore space on Leek Road very soon.
