Borrowing & membership

Visiting our libraries

University of Staffordshire Alumni can apply to join the Library by completing the External Library Membership form including digital photo.  This needs to be submitted to the Student Life team using our online enquiry system, Solve.  Please see instructions below for using Solve:

Submitting an Alumni membership request

  1. Go to the Solve site.
  2. Select the option to Create a New External User Account.
  3. Enter your email address and follow the instructions to confirm your Solve account.
  4. Once your access to Solve is confirmed, login and from the main welcome screen select the option Request Something.
  5. Select the option Student Support and Guidance.
  6. On the next screen select Student General Enquiry
  7. Complete the form that is displayed and attach your Library Membership Card application form and photograph.
  8. You will receive an email confirming that your application has been logged.
  9. Once you application is processed the Student Life team will contact you to arrange collection of your card. Please allow up to 10 working days for your card to be produced.

There is a charge of £15 for a year's Library membership.  Please note that you will need to make payment before coming to collect your card. Payments can be made at the Online Shop. When collecting your Library card you will need  the receipt of Alumni Membership payment, a form of identification and proof of ex-student status. This membership is for independent use of the Library facilities.

With an alumni account you will have the following borrowing and access rights:

  • Borrow 5 books
  • 5 reservations
  • Library access is Mon-Sun 8am-10pm in Core and Creative (Public access to Catalyst ground floor Mon-Fri 7am-4pm (subject to opening times)

Walk-in access to eResources

If you have an Alumni IT account, then you are entitled to visit our Libraries during staffed hours and access a limited number of University of Staffordshire Library e-resources, where the license permits.
