Managing longer documents in Word

When you begin to work on larger documents such as a large report, dissertation or final year project you are likely to need to use features within Microsoft Word which you have not used previously. There are many features built into Word which can make producing these types of documents easier and less stressful. Investing time and effort at the beginning will mean any formatting requirements can be met and will avoid last-minute panic when you should be concentrating on finalising your content.

This session will introduce you to features you need to know about to achieve professional-looking documents.

Learning Outcomes

By the end  of this session you should be able to:

  • Understand how to use styles effectively to meet layout requirements
  • Know how to use inbuilt features to create a Table of Contents and /or List of figures
  • Manage page numbering for your whole document
  • Know where to find additional help and support in Word
