Qualtrics online survey software

About Qualtrics

Qualtrics is a web-based survey software tool available for use by all University of Staffordshire staff and students.  Qualtrics can be used to conduct publicly-available surveys, or to give specific users access to a survey.

Some of the uses of Qualtrics include:

  • Collecting data for research projects or assignments
  • Gaining feedback on administrative and support services
  • Recording statistics on usage of support services

Features

  • Access many question types through the Qualtrics Question Library
  • Create surveys with embedded video, audio, and graphics
  • Send and track participation invitations
  • Create surveys that only show appropriate questions to each user
  • Choose from a range of templates, fonts, and colours, including University of Staffordshire branded designs
  • Create reports with a range of chart types, including creating filtered results within Qualtrics
  • Export data directly to SPSS, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CSV format or PDF.

Accessing Qualtrics

Qualtrics should be accessed at: https://staffordshire.qualtrics.com - there is also a link on the Library Resources page under Useful Research Tools.

Please note:  Do not just Google Qualtrics and login from their home page (www.qualtrics.com)! This only gives access to a free account with limited features.

Qualtrics is set up to use Single-Sign On (SSO) like many other University systems and will sign you in automatically - you should not use the option to enter your email and password at this stage.

Click on the link above and select the option No, I do not have a Qualtrics account when prompted.  It will attempt to login with your University credentials. Depending on which other systems you are signed into on your device, you may see the Microsoft login box - enter your credentials in the format username@staff.staffs.ac.uk or username@student.staffs.ac.uk and then your normal password. Once you have done that it should authenticate correctly and give you a box to agree to the Terms and Conditions (which you only see the first time you login). It might also prompt for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) too.

Learning to use Qualtrics

There are lots of support material available from Qualtrics themselves to help you use the software. You can access these while logged in from the Help link  (? button) at the top right of the screen  or via the Qualtrics Support website.
