Academic Librarians and Skills Tutors will work with you to ensure that you have the right information to hand for quality assurance, validation and partnership visits. We can also work with the specifications of external bodies to ensure positive learning environments. It is helpful if the Library is informed of any library resource implications before the course approval so that the Library can provide advice and include in future budgetary forecasts. The Library will need to be notified once the course has been approved so that access to the resources and support can be made available to the partner course in good time.
A business case for any new courses should include any library resources that will need to be purchased and added to the University’s library collection, or are already available within the Library ‘s collection. This is because the Library may have to allocate extra funds. For existing electronic resources, such as, journals, online databases and ebooks, the licences may not include access by the partnership course. To be legally compliant an add-on to the licence may be required which often incurs an extra cost to the University. It should also be noted that occasionally some suppliers may prohibit partnership access, for example if the partner is in a particular country or because of commercial restrictions.
